NFL to hold player combine in Hawaii
The NFL will host its first regional player combine for draft hopefuls in Hawaii, Jan. 25 at the University of Hawaii, the Hawaii Tourism Authority announced today.
It will be one of 10 held by the NFL with top prospects invited to the league’s Super Regional Combine at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas on Apr. 7-8, 2013 to appear in front of NFL team scouts and player personnel directors.
The Hawaii combine is coordinated by the HTA and held in conjunction with the Jan. 27 Pro Bowl.
“It is a privilege for Hawai‘i to host the first regional combine outside of the continental U.S., enhancing our islands’ presence as a sustainable sports arena,” Mike McCartney, president and CEO of the HTA, said in a statement. “This is a great opportunity not only for players from Hawai‘i, but also those from the Asia-Pacific region to showcase their talent and have a chance to qualify for a career in the NFL.”
The HTA said prospects will be "evaluated by NFL personnel and specialists."
