The University of Hawaii and Brigham Young today jointly announced the cancellation of their scheduled 2013 and ’14 football games.

The Dec. 7, 2013 game, which was to have been played at Aloha Stadium, has been scheduled since 2011 but conflicts with the inaugural Mountain West Conference championship game to be played on the same date. The MWC announced the title game last week.

UH was to have played in Provo in 2014 under terms of the home-and-home agreement.

No replacements for the two games have been announced by UH, which would leave the Warriors with a 12-game season.

To be bowl-eligible the Warriors would need at least six victories in the 12 games.

UH and BYU resumed their once marquee non-conference series in 2011 after an eight-year hiatus. The Cougars beat UH at Aloha Stadium, 41-20, in the 2011 regular season finale and won again Sept. 28, 2012 in Provo, 47-0.

UH said the two schools have, ” agreed to look at scheduling a future series.”

BYU, which announced its 12-game schedule today, will play  Virginia, Texas, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Nevada, Wisconsin, Idaho State, Boise State, Houston, Utah, Utah State and Middle Tennessee. The Cougars will have two open dates.
