Majam named Big West softball player of the week
University of Hawaii senior Kelly Majam was named the Big West Softball Field Player of the Week today.
Majam hit .421 and broke the program’s career runs record during the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas. She hit four home runs, scored nine runs and drove in seven over the six-game tournament.
She hit her first home run of the season in UH’s rout of San Jose State last Friday and her two-run blast helped power the Rainbow Wahine to an upset of No. 7/9 Oregon on Saturday. Majam hit two more homers in a loss to Nevada on Sunday.
She broke the UH runs record against Nevada when she scored the 188th run of her career. She also moved up to fifth on the school’s career RBI chart in raising her total to 122.
Majam is the second UH player to win Big West honors this season. Kaia Parnaby was named Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 11.
