Fresno State beats Hawaii 8-6 in nonconference game
Aaron Judge went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs and Trent Garrison added a two-run homer for Fresno State in an 8-6 win over Hawaii on Tuesday in a nonconference game at Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif.
Freshman Kevin Viers added three doubles and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (17-29), who beat Hawaii (11-31) in the first game between the two teams since they both left the Western Athletic Conference.
The two teams had played 27 games in the previous five seasons, including eight meetings in the Western Athletic Conference tournament.
Trevor Podratz went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead UH, which had 10 hits.
Hawaii used four different pitchers in the game with senior Patrick O’Rourke (0-2) taking the loss. O’Rourke allowed two runs on four hits in two innings.
Marc Flores went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Kalei Hanawahine was 2-for-2 with two runs scored as UH dropped to 2-2 on its current seven-game road trip.
