An owner of Grace’s Inn died after the SUV he was driving crashed on the Pali Highway this morning.

Restaurant employees of restaurant identified the 76-year-old driver who died as Takashi Kiyozuka.

His wife, Yoko, 67, was also critically injured in the accident.

The accident involved an SUV, which was headed into town when it crashed at 10:28 a.m., authorities said.

The vehicle apparently left the townbound lanes, crossed the median strip and ended on the shoulder of the Kailua-bound lanes.

Police reopened the Pali Highway in both directions more than a hour after the crash.

Town-bound lanes on the Pali Highway were closed at 11:33 a.m. from Castle Junction. At the same time all Kailua-bound lanes on the Pali Highway beginning at Wyllie street in Nuuanu were shut down as the police investigated the accident. The highway was reopened about 1 p.m.
