Red Sox put Victorino on disabled list
The Boston Red Sox put outfielder Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21 because of nagging hamstring injury.
The team held Victorino out of the lineup for a third straight game Thursday because of tightness in his left hamstring.
Victorino was running the bases in the sixth inning of Monday’s game against the White Sox when his left hamstring started to bother him, and he was replaced in right field in the bottom of the inning. He also missed games last weekend with a back injury.
Farrell wasn’t sure if the injuries were related but seemed to suspect a link, saying “lower back and hamstring, at some point they’re interrelated, so we got to treat the symptoms.”
Victorino is batting .283 with two home runs.
