India officials study Hawaii community colleges
University officials from India are visiting Hawaii for a week to learn about community colleges.
Kapiolani Community College Chancellor Leon Richards says three University of Mumbai officials are in to Hawaii to learn what makes U.S. community colleges successful and how the U.S. model can be adapted to India.
Their visit is part of India’s ambitious initiative to establish 10,000 community colleges for 500 million students by 2030.
The University of Hawaii said Friday the delegation will tour Kapiolani Community College’s culinary, hotel and business programs. They’ll also visit the Manoa campus’ School of Travel Industry Management.
The delegation’s trip begins today and lasts through June 30.
