7 hikers rescued after getting lost escaping wild pigs

Honolulu fire rescue personnel escorted seven hikers off the Kaau Crater trail in Palolo Valley Monday after the hikers got lost while escaping feral pigs.

The hikers, ranging in age from 15 to 30 years, were hiking toward a waterfall when they encountered the pigs. They called for assistance about 4:30 p.m.

Firefighters had difficulty locating the hikers, but eventually determined their location and hiked in to assist them.

The party safely exited the trail around 7 p.m. None of the hikers were injured.
