The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the hikers who died after falls on Oahu over the weekend.

The 70-year-old hiker who died Sunday after falling off a trail above Mariners Ridge was identified as Paul E. Yoon of Honolulu.

The Medical Examiner’s Office also identified the 23-year-old Kapolei woman who fell 300 feet while hiking near Kaaawa Saturday as Elizabeth Tarpay. Tarpay died after falling 300 feet from the Puu Manamana hiking trail above Kaaawa on Saturday morning.

Yoon died from cranial/cervical spine injuries due to an accidental fall from a height, the Medical Examiner’s Office found. Paramedics said he fell 20 to 30 feet.

A fire spokesman said Yoon was hiking with a local hiking club.
