LOS ANGELES » The first finisher of the 2013 Transpac sailing race from California to Hawaii has reached Diamond Head.

The Transpacific Yacht Club says John Sangmeister’s trimaran Lending Club crossed the finish of the 47th Transpac at 12:52 a.m. Hawaii time Friday.

Lending Club had an elapsed time of five days, 11 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds over 2,225-nautical-mile course. The course record for a fully crewed multihull is five days, nine hours, 18 minutes and 26 seconds set in 1997 by the catamaran Explorer.

Lending Club reported two impacts with debris that damaged the carbon fiber centerboard, requiring repairs.

Teams have been reporting dangerous debris including possible telephone poles.

Fifty-eight boats sailed from Point Fermin south of Los Angeles in three waves on July 8, 11 and 13.
