A 63-year-old Kaneohe woman was injured battling an early morning fire that started on the second floor of her Kaneohe Bay home.

The woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition with non-life threatening burns following the two-alarm fire, which 35 firefighters brought under control in 17 minutes. The fire was reported at 1:54 a.m.

A guest in the Kaneohe home at 44-111 Kalenakai Place — a woman in her 60s — escaped without any injuries. She was sleeping on the first floor when the fire broke out.

The cause of the $220,000 fire at the four-bedroom house is under investigation.

Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman, said the fire started on the second floor of two-story structure. The fire was contained to the second floor, which was damaged extensively.
