Trial set in Waikiki home invasion, assault case
A 26-year-old homeless man will be tried in October for allegedly breaking into a Waikiki apartment and assaulting a male occupant earlier this month.
Anthony Shermeta was arrested Aug. 9 after he allegedly kicked out the window of a Waikiki apartment around 1:17 a.m. near Kalaimoku Street and allegedly attacked a 29-year-old man in his living room.
The victim was not seriously injured, and said he knew the man who broke into his apartment.
Shermeta was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.
His trial was set for the week of Oct. 21.
