Owner claims dog found swimming in Honolulu Harbor
The owner has claimed the dog that was rescued while swimming in the middle of Honolulu Harbor.
The owner claimed the dog Sunday morning from Coast Guard officials.
“We were just happy to find his owner,” said Coast Guard Petty Officer Tara Molle.
Molle said the owner, who worked in the harbor area, said the dog had problems with its eyesight, probably contributing to it falling into the water.
A tugboat crew initially spotted the animal Saturday morning and notified the harbormaster, who called the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard picked up the dog with its 25-foot response boat about 11:30 a.m., and took it back to the station on Sand Island.
