A 30-year-old pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle at the Windward City Shopping Center.

At about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, police said a blue 2009 Mazda operated by a 49-year-old Kaneohe man was traveling eastbound in the shopping center’s parking lot when he lost control of the vehicle, possibly due to a medical condition.

The vehicle sideswiped three unoccupied vehicles and struck a woman, who was standing on a nearby sidewalk, head-on. Police said the Mazda then crashed into a chain-link fence.

The pedestrian, a Honolulu woman, was transported to Queen’s in critical condition. The 49-year-old driver who sustained head injuries also was taken to the same hospital in serious condition.
