Man charged with arson in Ala Wai Plaza blaze

    Flames were seen shooting out of a two-story apartment at the Ala Wai Plaza Tuesday night.

A 28-year-old man was charged with first-degree arson in connection to a fire that occurred at the Ala Wai Plaza condominium complex.

He is identified as Dustin Wayne Saluda, a resident in one of the units of the building located at 500 University Ave. 

The fire occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday in unit 1801 in the Park Tower of the 349-unit complex. The blaze had spread throughout the three-bedroom, two-story unit. 

The fire prompted hundreds of residents to evacuate. No injuries were reported.
