Some Oceanic customers compensated for lost programming

    Cable channels Showtime, Flix and others are blacked out by Oceanic Time Warner Cable.

Customers of Oceanic Time Warner Cable who subscribe to The Movie Channel and Showtime will receive a credit for programming they did not receive during the month of August, officials from the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Cable Television Division announced today.

Subscribers with one movie channel will receive a credit of $15.95 while those subscribing to two movie channels will receive $25.90, according to a news release from the department.

The credit is the result of a Sept. 2 agreement between CBS Corp. and Time Warner Cable, resolving a dispute between the companies. While the dispute did not result in a suspension of CBS programming for Hawaii subscribers, it did cause a suspension of some premium services by Oceanic for about one month.

Oceanic customers who subscribe to either or both of the premium channels should see a bill credit in their next bill, according to DCCA. Subscribers with any questions can call 643-2100 statewide, according to DCCA.
