Pensacola and Kinau reopened following gas line repairs
Hawaii Gas personnel completed repairs to a gas leak on Pensacola Avenue Friday evening.
All lanes of Pensacola and Kinau streets were reopened just before 4 a.m. this morning.
Police had closed Pensacola Avenue between Kinau Street and Beretania Street except for one lane for local traffic and the bus.
The leak was first detected by a Honolulu police officer about 4 a.m. Friday.
A Hawaii Gas spokesman said the leak was traced to a broken 4-inch pipe. Repair crews secured backup gas service to area businesses before shutting off the line for replacement.
