Police, sheriffs seek woman who failed to return to correctional center
Authorities are looking for a 40-year-old female inmate who failed to return from a visit with a group that was to prepare her for her eventual release.
Jennifer Garcia left Friday morning to meet with her support group and was scheduled to return to the Women’s Community Correctional Center by 9 p.m., according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Department spokesperson Toni Schwartz said Garcia was in a transitional program called “Bridge” with a transitional halfway house within the women’s prison.
Schwartz said Garcia, convicted of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and second-degree robbery, is considered a low security risk.
She has brown hair, brown eyes, weighs about 150 pounds and is 5 feet 5 inches tall.
