Louisiana man apparently drowns off Kaanapali, Maui
A 71-year-old Louisiana tourist died of an apparent drowning off Kaanapali, Maui, police said..
Officers responded at 12:37 p.m. Thursday to a report of a possible drowning near the Aston Kaanapali Shores hotel.
They found fire and paramedic crews performing CPR on the victim, identified as Brian Avenel of Manadeville, La.
Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and Avenel died at the scene, police said.
