Maui firefighters extinguish brush fire near dump

It took Maui firefighters nearly an hour to bring a brush fire near the Olowalu dump transfer station under control early this morning.

The brush fire was reported at 1:37 a.m. It was brought under control at 2:27 a.m. and extinguished 10 minutes later.

Maui fire officials reported that the fire scorched area of brush and grass approximately 150 feet by 75 feet on the makai side of the highway. 

No damages or injuries were reported. Cause of the fire was undetermined.
