Rep. Cabanilla hit with $500 fine over campaign finance reports

State Rep. Rida Cabanilla has been fined $500 by the state Campaign Spending Commission for filing an inaccurate or false campaign-finance report.

Cabanilla held a fundraiser in March but reported raising no money when she filed her campaign-finance report for the first half of the year. She subsequently reported raising $5,830.

Cabanilla was named House majority floor leader in October after Rep. Karen Awana resigned the leadership post after facing campaign-finance violations.

The Campaign Spending Commission imposed the fine at its meeting last Wednesday.
