Kauai officials have identified the Wainiha man found dead Friday afternoon in a pickup truck that ran off a cliff and fell into waters off Kuhio Highway.

 Dadly “Bobo” Ham Young, 61, was driving a Dodge pickup truck north on Kuhio Highway when the vehicle apparently veered off the road and fell about 20 feet off a cliff, Kauai police said in a news release.

A bystander reported the accident to police around 7:15 a.m. and emergency responders found Young unresponsive inside the truck. Police believe he was the sole occupant of the truck.

Officials closed Kuhio Highway in both directions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. while crews recovered the body and the pickup.

Young is the fifth traffic fatality on Kauai so far this year.
