The Medical Examiner’s Office deferred determining the cause of death of a 52-year-old visitor from Japan whose body was found about 200 yards off Kahala Beach earlier this month, pending further tests.

The victim was identified as Hiromi Ueno of Sakato, Japan.

A friend of the victim called emergency officials about 4:30 a.m. Nov. 11, saying the woman had gone for a swim overnight but didn’t return.

The woman was found about two hours later in shallow waters about 150 to 200 yards offshore.
