Hawaii’s Bruno Mars is up for four Grammy Awards, including song of the year and record of the year. Mars’ album “Locked out of Heaven” is also up for a production award for best remixed recording, non-classical.

Hawaiian swing music band Kahulanui is nominated in the best regional roots music category for “Hula Ku’i”

Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” is up for record of the year, along with Get Lucky” by Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams; “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons; “Royals” by Lorde; “and “Blurred Lines,” Robin Thicke featuring T.I. & Pharrell Williams.

“Locked Out of Heaven” and “Royals” are also nominated for song of the year, along with “Just Give Me a Reason” by Pink featuring Nate Ruess; “Roar” by Katy Perry; and “Same Love,” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert.

Mars is also nominated for best pop solo performance for “When I Was Your Man,” and best pop vocal album for “Unorthodox Jukebox.”

Jay Z easily led Grammy Award nominations announced today with nine, but left-of-center rappers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kendrick Lamar were among the new stars who took many of the major nominations.

Seattle’s Macklemore and Lewis joined Los Angeles rapper Lamar with seven nominations apiece, including best album and best new artist of the year. Williams had four major nominations among his seven, and Justin Timberlake also had seven.

Williams, who seemed to be everywhere in 2013, is up for producer of the year and faces himself in three categories, including record of the year for “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines,” and album of the year entries “Random Access Memories” by Daft Punk and Lamar’s “good kid.”

Drake and sound engineer Bob Ludwig were next on the nominees list with five apiece.

Joining Lamar, Macklemore and Lewis and Daft Punk in the album of the year category were Sara Bareilles’ “The Blessed Unrest” and Taylor Swift’s “Red.”

Swift is among five acts with four nominations apiece along with Daft Punk, Mars, Lorde and Kacey Musgraves. British musicians James Blake and Ed Sheeran round out the best new artist category with Musgraves, Lamar and Macklemore and Lewis.

“Hula Ku’i,” is up against albums by four mainland groups — the Hot 8 Brass Band, Zachary Richard, Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience and Joe Tohonnie Jr. in the regional roots category. The producer of the album is Big Island resident Charles Michael Brotman, producer of the compilation album, “Slack Key Guitar, Volume 2,” that was the 2005 Grammy-winner in the Best Hawaiian Music Album category.

The category for Hawaiian music was eliminated following the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2011; Hawaiian recordings now compete against Cajun, zydeco, polka and Native American music in the regional roots music category.
