Hawaii’s Hartong named all-region in volleyball
Hawaii senior hitter Emily Hartong was named to the AVCA Division I all-region team for the third consecutive year and Rainbow Wahine freshman hitter Nikki Taylor earned honorable mention, it was announced today
Hartong, the Big West Player of the Year, was one of 14 players named on the Pacific North Region team. Taylor was one of six honorable mentions, the only freshman named.
Stanford, Washington and Colorado State had three players named all-region with one player each from Oregon, California and St. Mary’s. The honorable mention list had players from Stanford, Saint Mary’s, Gonzaga, California and Oregon.
Washington State’s Kyra Holt was named Freshman of the Year. Tom Hilbert of Colorado State was named the Coach of the Year.
The all-region players move on for All-American consideration. The freshmen and coaches of the year are eligible for national honors.
Voting was done based on position.

Hawaii senior libero Ali Longo was tied for second in votes among the liberos nominated. Senior Mita Uiato was tied for fifth among setters.
Hartong was second to Washington’s Krista Vansant among outside hitters and Taylor tied for 11th among outside hitters.
