Hawaii County police have closed off a stretch of Kilauea Avenue in Hilo due to a gas leak.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 7:03 this morning after a report of a gas leak. They found a gas line rupture due to road construction, fire officials said.
Kilauea Avenue between Mohouli and Hoku streets was closed to traffic until around 11 a.m. while the leak was repaired, police said.
