Cool temperatures will continue overnight for most of the week, with lows in the mid-50s to lower 60s for Honolulu, National Weather Service forecasters said.

North winds behind a cold front that moved over Oahu and Kauai Sunday are responsible for the cooler temperatures.

The front was stalled over Maui County Thursday morning. Rains from the weather system set a new record at the Kahului Airport Sunday. At 4 p.m., .66 inches of rain was recorded at the airport, breaking the record of .6 inches set in 1984.

Honolulu can expect isolated showers and partly sunny conditions Monday.

Temperatures may warm a bit on Thursday when a cold front moves over the state, bringing a day of Kona weather conditions and a greater chance of rain to the islands.

But temperatures will drop again behind the front.

Another, stronger cold front is expected early next week, possibly bringing an extended period of muggy and voggy Kona weather before the front arrives.
