A main break in Kailua that affected about 40 Board of Water Supply customers Thursday afternoon has been repaired Friday morning, but the roads will remain closed for crews to backfill the trench and repave the roadway.

The 10-inch, 70-year-old main broke at 197 Kailua Road at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, a BWS spokesman said.

Water was restored to all affected customers at 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Police shut down Kailua Road at 5:32 p.m. between Aumoe Road and South Kainalu Drive.

Customers on Kailua Road between Aumoe and Wanaao roads were without water.

BWS sent a water wagon to the area.

Water intruded into three to six houses and garages, though not substantially, and threatened another dozen homes, said Fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
