Hawaii senior Scott Kuzminsky tossed a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Nevada on Monday night to earn a four-game split of the series at Les Murakami Stadium.

Kuzminsky (2-2) faced the minimum, allowing a one-out walk in the first and singles in the fifth and seventh inning. Catcher Trevor Podratz threw out Austin Byler trying to steal in the first and UH turned two double plays to improve to 9-11 overall.

Tyler Wells (0-3) took a tough loss for the Wolf Pack (9-11), allowing just one run on two hits in eight innings with no walks and eight strikeouts.

Kuzminsky struck out three and needed only 92 pitches.

Stephen Ventimilia singled to leadoff the bottom of the first. He stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch before Kaeo Aliviado drove him in on a grounder to second for the only run of the game.

It’s the second shutout Hawaii has pitched this season. Senior Matt Cooper tossed a four-hitter over nine innings in a 2-0 win over Pepperdine on Feb. 26.

The Rainbow Warriors have just two days off before welcoming Alabama-Birmingham (16-5) for a four-game series starting Thursday.
