“Hawaii Five-0” not only pumps millions into the state’s economy

Filming for the season finale of  "Hawaii Five-0" will cause  intermittent closures of Kalakaua Avenue Tuesday, a Honolulu city spokesman said in a news release.

The closures will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Traffic will be stopped for two to three minutes at a time. There will be no detours, only brief delays, the spokesman said.

A single lane of Kalakaua Avenue may also be blocked off for the staging of equipment.

Crews will be filming driving shots to complete the filming of the finale episode that took place on Sunday.

Working with the traffic signals, short sections of Kalakaua Avenue travel lanes will be ‘held’ for a couple minutes longer than a normal and then released.  Pedestrians will also be asked to wait a few minutes while the shots are being filmed.

Between takes, vehicles will be allowed to drive down the street and pedestrians will be allowed to walk.

The filming will involve a block or two at a time to minimize the impact to motorists.
