Medical examiner identifies man who crashed Town Car on H-1
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 72-year-old man who died Thursday after crashing his car on the H-1 freeway near the Waialae Avenue offramp as Dennis Morris, of Honolulu.
His cause of death is pending the results of more medical tests.
Police said Morris may have suffered a medical condition, as he had been seen slumped over the steering wheel.
Morris was Koko Head-bound on the freeway at about 1:04 p.m. when he drove his 2000 Lincoln Town Car up an embankment near the offramp and struck a signpost, police said. The Town Car continued in the right lane, sideswiped a wall and guardrail, went left toward the median and then right, hitting a rock wall, police said. Paramedics took Morris in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died, police said.
Morris was Oahu’s 22nd traffic related fatality compared with 24 at the same time last year.
