Strong earthquake in southwest Pacific poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A strong earthquake Wednesday evening off of New Caledonia poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The 6.7-magnitude temblor struck at 8:36 p.m. Hawaii time 132 miles west-northwest of Ile Hunter, New Caledonia at a depth of 73 miles, according the U.S. Geological Survey.
No injuries were immediately reported.
