Health officials: No other MERS cases reported
INDIANAPOLIS >> State health officials say no other cases of a mysterious virus that has sickened hundreds in the Middle East and has hospitalized a man in Indiana have been reported.
Spokespeople for state and federal health agencies said Sunday that the condition of the man with the first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in the U.S. is continuing to improve.
They say the patient remains in Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana, where he was in good condition Sunday.
The man fell ill with MERS after flying to the U.S. late last week from Saudi Arabia, where he was a health care worker.
Staff members at the hospital who had direct contact with him before he was isolated have themselves been placed in temporary home isolation and are being monitored.
