Former UH lineman Meatoga invited to Browns’ camp
Former University of Hawaii football player Vaughn Meatoga told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he has accepted an invitation to participate in the Cleveland Browns’ mini-camp this coming weekend.
Meatoga, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, completed his UH eligibility at the end of the 2011 season.
He was not selected in the National Football League’s 2012 draft, but he had free-agent stints with the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders.
This year, he signed a two-year contract with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League. But the Lions canceled that contract two weeks ago when a former B.C. player became available.
This past Saturday, former UH assistant coach Tony Tuioti, now a quality-control coach with the Browns, extended the mini-camp invitation to Meatoga.
