UC Davis hammers Hawaii to win baseball series

Hawaii gave up a season-high 21 hits as UC Davis hammered the Rainbow Warriors 12-3 on Sunday to take the series at Dobbins Stadium in Davis, Calif.

Junior Jarrett Arakawa left after giving up one run on three hits in the first inning for Hawaii (20-30, 4-17 Big West), which has lost at least 30 games for the second year in a row and the fourth time in Mike Trapasso’s 13 years as head coach.

Spencer Brann went 3-for-4 with a home run and scored three times and Tanner Bily had four hits and two runs scored for the Aggies (23-28, 7-14).

All seven pitchers UH used in the game gave up at least two hits. UC Davis put the game away with a seven-run fifth inning.

Evan Wolf gave up three runs on nine hits with no walks and four strikeouts to earn the win for UC Davis.

Marc Flores went 3-for-4 with a double, run and an RBI and Trevor Podratz was 2-for-3 with an RBI for UH.

Quintin Torres-Costa (3-3) allowed three runs on four hits in three innings of relief to take the loss.

Hawaii returns home for the final three games of the season against UC Riverside beginning Thursday night.
