About 40 homes without water Wednesday morning had their service restored after crews fixed two two water mains that broke in the same Pearl City neighborhood overnight.

The first main broke at about 11:30 p.m. on Aumakua Street between Ahaiki St. and Akaikai Loop, a Board of Water Supply spokesman said.

The break on an 8-inch main from the 1960s cut off service to 16 homes. Service was restored by about 10 a.m. after crews finished repairs to the pipe.

Repairs to the roadway should be completed Monday afternoon.

A break on another 8-inch main cut off water to 24 homes on Aamanu St. near Akaikai Loop at about 12:30 a.m. and was fixed by 11 a.m.

Repairs on the roads are expected to last into the afternoon.
