An 86-year-old Molokai man died June 4 from injuries sustained in a May 8 single-vehicle collision in Maunaloa, Molokai.
Maui County police identified the man as Harry Shimizu.
Shimizu was a passenger in a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, driven by an 86-year-old Molokai woman, when it was traveling east on Maunaloa Highway at 6:39 a.m. May 8 just east of mile post 15.
The truck veered left of the center line and hit a guardrail on the north side of the roadway. It then crossed the center line and continued southeasterly to the south shoulder, went up an embankment and flipped onto its roof, police said.
Police said Shimizu was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts and airbags deployed. An investigation is pending.
