Honolulu police to hand out 54 awards
The Honolulu Police Department is recognizing dozens of people for their distinguished service.
The department is recognizing 54 people at an awards ceremony on Wednesday at the Mission Memorial Auditorium.
Those being recognized include an officer who subdued an armed suspect in Kahala, an off-duty reserve officer who was severely beaten while saving a couple being attacked and a city bus driver who located a missing child in Waikiki.
Other honorees including police 911 dispatchers and operators and a deputy sheriff.
