MANILA >> A Saudi Arabian Airlines plane swerved off the runway at Manila’s international airport and became stuck in the mud as it prepared to take off Tuesday evening after a heavy rain, officials said. None of the 298 passengers was hurt, but at least 11 other flights were delayed by the blocked runway.

The airport authority said workers were attempting to remove the Boeing 747 from the runway.

Flight SV871 bound for Riyadh was canceled and the passengers were taken away by bus and put up in a hotel. Officials could not immediately say when the runway would be cleared.
