Two men robbed two women, ages 64 and 50, at their Puna house Wednesday night, Hawaii County police said.

The women heard loud noises and a man yelling “police” at about 8 p.m. outside their house in the Fern Forest subdivision of Mountain View.

The younger woman said the two men forced their way in, one wielding a bat-like object, and demanded money.

The man took an undisclosed amount of money, the woman’s cell phone and fled.

The women reported hearing gunshots from the roadway fronting the house, police said.

The men fled in separate cars, one in a light-colored sedan, the other in a dark-colored sedan.

The 64-year-old told police her purse and its contents were stolen.

The man with the bat was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wore jeans, a dark blue baseball cap, a black hoodie and a blue-and-white bandana over his face.

The victims could not see the second suspect, so could not provide a description, police said.

No one was injured.

The cases are classified as a first-degree burglary, second-degree robbery and second-degree reckless endangering.
