A Republican state Senate candidate resumed sign waving Thursday afternoon after he was hit by a car while crossing the street after waving signs in Waipio Thursday morning.

Dennis Kim said he had just completed sign waving with his wife on Ka Uka Boulevard and was crossing the street near Costco at Moaniani Street when he was accidentally struck by a motorist just after 7:30 a.m.

Kim said he fell, but didn’t suffer any injuries.

“It was very minor,” Kim added.

Both police and paramedics were called, but Kim and his wife refused medical treatment, the candidate said. A police report was filed, Kim said,

“I will be waving signs and walking this district this afternoon,” Kim said Thursday.

Kim is running for the Senate seat in District 18, which includes Mililani, parts of Waipio Gentry, Waikele and Village Park.
