    UH President David Lassner.

The University of Hawaii will allow all qualifying veterans to pay resident tuition at all campuses in the system.

The university said Tuesday the board recently approved the new policy with a unanimous vote.

Veterans must be honorably discharged from the military and be using their GI education benefits to qualify for resident tuition.

The new policy takes effect next spring.

President David Lassner says it’s the right thing to do for veterans and for Hawaii. He says veterans have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

He says a University of Hawaii education will enable them to unlock their capabilities and allow their families to thrive in communities throughout the state.
