Cop killer stalked father of LAPD chief
LOS ANGELES » A fired Los Angeles policeman who killed four people during a vengeance spree last year also stalked the father of Police Chief Charlie Beck.
Beck tells KNBC-TV that detectives told him after Christopher Dorner’s death that he’d followed Beck’s then-88-year-old father, retired LAPD Deputy Chief George Beck.
Dorner had worked in the police division where Beck’s father lives.
The chief says Dorner’s writings indicated he’d planned to kill his father’s Australian shepherd.
Beck says he’s still shocked to think that Dorner targeted his family but his father — who turned 90 on Thursday — is stoic about it.
Dorner claimed he was unjustly fired. He killed four people in February of last year before being surrounded. He shot himself in a burning cabin in the San Bernardino mountains.
