Army criminal investigators say they have identified a person of interest in the killing of a soldier’s wife found dead in the couple’s Honolulu home.

Thirty-eight-year-old Catherine Walker was found dead early Saturday in the home at Aliamanu Military Reservation. The medical examiner’s office says her death is a homicide and that she died of stab wounds to her neck and torso.

Army Criminal Investigation Command spokesman Chris Grey said Thursday investigators don’t believe Walker’s death was a random act or a robbery. He says agents continue to look at other possibilities and evidence. The person of interest is not in custody.

“We are aggressively pursuing all information and leads involving this tragic death,” said Grey. “At this point in the investigation, we do not believe there is a threat to the local community. I can confirm that we have a person of interest in this case who our agents are taking a very hard look at, but it’s important to point out that we continue to look at all possibilities and evidence in order to conduct a complete and thorough investigation,” said Grey. 

The Army says Walker’s husband is assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center. He and other family members couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
