Fire destroyed a single-story attachment to a residential structure in the Fern Acres subdivision in Puna on Monday.

Firefighters responding to a 12:08 p.m. alarm found the attachment, described as a workshop area connected to a garage, full engulfed in flames.

The firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the residence’s living areas. The fire was brought under control by 12:20 p.m. and fully extinguished by 12:47 p.m.

Damage was estimated at $120,000. The cause has not been determined.
