Police have released a 32-year-old woman who was arrested in a murder investigation involving a newborn found in a Waikiki hotel room.

The woman was released pending investigation at 2:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

Police responded to a report of a dead infant about 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old female visitor about 11:45 p.m. for investigation of second-degree murder.

The Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii, which assists tourists who have been victims of crimes, said it sent a Korean-speaking volunteer to help family members.

An autopsy on the newborn is pending.
