Rainbow Wahine sweep UC Davis on senior night

UH outside hitter Ginger Long bumped the ball into play during the second set of Saturday night's win over UC Davis at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Kalei Adolpho and Sarah Mendoza celebrated senior night by helping the University of Hawaii volleyball team close the regular season with a sweep of UC Davis on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Before being honored in the senior ceremony, Adolpho put down eight kills and Mendoza posted a match-high 16 digs in UH’s 25-19, 25-16, 25-15 win over the Aggies before before a crowd of 6,339.

The Rainbow Wahine (21-6, 13-3 Big West) ended the regular season on a five-match winning streak and will learn their postseason fate on Sunday when the NCAA tournament bracket is released. The selection show is set for 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

Adolpho hit .667 with no errors and was in on four blocks. Nikki Taylor and Tai Manu-Olevao tied for team-high honors with nine kills each and Olivia Magill finished with eight. UH ended with a .330 hitting percentage while UC Davis hit .090.

UH junior Ginger Long, who also played her final regular-season home match and was recognized in the postgame ceremony, finished with three kills, including the final point of the night.

Allie Wegener led UC Davis (15-14, 10-6) with nine kills.
