Hawaiian Electric helicopters to check power lines

Hawaiian Electric says it will use helicopters to inspect power lines along Oahu’s Koolau Mountains next week.

The work is scheduled to last from Monday through Friday.

Flights on the windward side will go around Kaneohe up to Wiliwilinui Ridge and near Waimanalo.

On the Honolulu side, the flights will be near Waialae Iki, Hawaii Loa Ridge, Aina Haina, Mariner’s Ridge and Kalama Valley.

The flights will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The utility says the helicopters won’t fly over residential or populated areas while carrying loads.
