Hawaiian Airlines extends Diamond Head Classic deal
Hawaiian Airlines signed a two-year extension to remain the title sponsor of the Diamond Head Classic through 2016, the event’s executive director David Matlin announced Monday.
The agreement also leaves Hawaiian Airlines an option through 2020.
“The Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic is the perfect platform for us to showcase the beauty, charm and sense of aloha of Hawaii with a national television audience,” said Kevin Yim, senior director of Global Marketing Communications in a release. “Hawaiian Airlines is also proud to carry the teams and their traveling fans as part of this tournament and give them the experience of Hawai’i as soon as they board the aircraft, making the journey part of their vacation.”
Matlin said in the release: “We are excited to continue this special relationship with Hawaiian Airlines. Hawaiian Airlines is an outstanding organization that enables us to bring this televised event to the mainland during the cold and snowy holiday season.”
The 2015 field of the eight-team tournament for Dec. 22, 23 and 25 was announced Sunday as BYU, Washington State, New Mexico, Northern Iowa, Harvard, Auburn, Oklahoma and host Hawaii.
The first round of the 2014 event was played Monday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
