East Manoa Road was closed for more than an hour after a car hit a parked vehicle and flipped over Wednesday morning.

A 75-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition Wednesday morning after the car she was driving smashed into a parked vehicle and flipped over on East Manoa Road.

Honolulu firefighters stabilized the overturned car and extracted the driver.

City Emergency Medical Services personnel treated the woman at the scene and transported her to a trauma center. A first responder said the woman was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center.

The accident happened about 6:57 a.m. near 2927 E. Manoa Rd. and was witnessed by people at a nearby gas station, said acting Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Kendall Ching.

The crash forced the closure of East Manoa Road between Huapala Street and Lowrey Avenue, police said.

The road was reopened before 8:30 a.m., according to Honolulu police.
